The Spice Pavilion Indian Restaurant Edinburgh: Reviews

Many new Indian restaurants have opened in Edinburgh recently and I walked past The Spice Pavilion several times as it was preparing to open. Positioned in a basement property on Dundas Street, near to Abercromby Place – the restaurant offers ’refined yet creative North West Indian Frontier Style cuisine’. I was intrigued by the food description on their website as I love Indian food and have been known to travel to the other side of town to sample my favourite dishes, but was extremely pleased to find Spice Pavilion located in my New Town neighbourhood.
The restaurant has been open for a few weeks now and currently has an offer on until the end of June - 25% discount on all food, which gave me the push to try out their menu. This review is based on one visit only – but I couldn’t keep my findings a secret whilst I tried to fit in a second visit around forthcoming holidays. You can book a table online or phone ahead...
The only reason that this restaurant does not get the ‘Edinburgh Spotlight Recommended’ award at this time is because it has only had one visit. We are booking the rear area for a private party in June (solely off the back of this visit) and know we will not be disappointed.
Verdict? The Spice Pavilion is a welcome addition to the New Town which offers authentic, creative and good value Indian dishes served with a genuine smile.

EDINBURGH SPOTLIGHT

Could not find fault with this restaurant. The decor is lovely, very friendly staff and food amazing. Complimentary popadoms and chutney and also free sweet after meal is a very nice touch. If you like a very spicy dish but full of flavour I highly recommend the Kolhapuri Dish. Never tasyed anything like it. This seems like a family run business who genuinelly care if you've enjoyed your food. Cannot wait to return. They also have their own website with a live online booking facility which is very convenient.
